Our Vision

Norland Ward Memorial Park and Recreation Centre is managed by the Norland Recreation Centre Volunteer Management Committee (NRCVMC).

It is the NRCVMC vision to enrich the quality of life for all members of the community by providing strong stewardship of both the Recreation Centre building and Ward Memorial Park by

  • developing, improving and maintaining the indoor and outdoor facilities

  • sponsoring safe and affordable events and activities for all ages

  • advocating for resources and support from the City of Kawartha Lakes as well as other public and private funding sources

We are building a sustainable legacy which will add value to our community for generations to come.

What We Offer

Ward Memorial Park and Recreation Centre offers a wheelchair accessible hall that can be used for many events big or small. Inside there are washrooms and a full kitchen with serving capability. The indoor capacity is 250 people.

Outside in the park, there is a roofed pavilion with hydro to host family gatherings or provide shelter to those participating in sporting events. There is also a baseball diamond, soccer field, horse shoe pits, and a playground. The sport fields can also be rented to ensure availability for scheduled games or tournaments as desired. New as of 2023, Ward Memorial Park has an outdoor ice rink for free public skating in the winter months.

The property of Ward Memorial Park that surrounds the Recreation Centre is open for public use, but renters will take priority. The park is also a popular dog walking area and we love seeing your furry friends run and enjoy - but we ask that you kindly clean up after them and keep them leashed!

Public Events

When the Recreation Centre and Ward Park aren’t being rented for private functions, the NRCVMC hosts a variety of events for people of all ages. Cornhole, dances, and the Norland Summer Festival are only a few of the events we offer - please check our calendar for upcoming events!

Fundraising Initiatives

The NRCVMC is hard at work to bring many wonderful projects to our community that will encourage the growth and vibrancy of the town we all love. Many hands make light work, and we are so fortunate to be part of a community that consistently comes together in times of celebration and in times of need. Please see our list of projects and fundraising initiatives to learn more about how you can help!
